Lee Iacocca, Ford general manager and vice president, had a vision of a car that weighed less than 2500 pounds, had bucket seats, a floor shifter and no longer than 180 inches long. Lee's design led to Ford's first race car; in 1962 the first concept of the ford mustang was created. When produced, the Mustang was either a flat top or a convertible, two door, two seater.

The Ford Mustang gave American muscle a new face with this aggressive look of a long hood exposing the wheels and a short back with a sleek top. This look gave the Ford Mustang a name and it made the car instantly famous for its aggressive look.
